# Desktop Obsidian ↔ VPS AgentOS
## Canonical path on VPS
```
/home/vpsadmin/AgentOS
```
Point Obsidian at a **local clone or sync of this tree**, not a third vault.
## Option A — Git (recommended if you use Gitea)
1. Keep AgentOS as the live working tree on the VPS.
2. This tree is mirrored under `Tony_tech/personal-agent-os` → `memory-systems/agent-os/`.
3. On the laptop (via SSH tunnel to Gitea if needed):
```bash
git clone http://localhost:3000/Tony_tech/personal-agent-os.git
# Open memory-systems/agent-os as vault OR whole repo
```
4. Obsidian → Open folder as vault.
5. Before big sessions: `git pull`. After edits: commit + push.
Or **rsync** once:
```bash
rsync -avz vpsadmin@YOUR_VPS:/home/vpsadmin/AgentOS/ ./AgentOS-Vault/
```
## Option B — Syncthing
1. Install Syncthing on laptop + VPS (user-level, no root).
2. Share `/home/vpsadmin/AgentOS` ↔ local `AgentOS-Vault`.
3. Open the local folder in Obsidian.
4. Avoid editing the same note on both sides at once.
## What not to do
- Don’t keep a separate vault on the laptop that Leonard never sees.
- Don’t put secrets in synced markdown.
- Don’t use iCloud-only without a VPS-visible path.
## Env on VPS (Hermes)
```bash
OBSIDIAN_VAULT_PATH=/home/vpsadmin/AgentOS
```
